Our Vision

The Pillars of Weston

Rooted in Shropshire, Grown by its Community, Built for the Future.

Weston is an emerging opportunity to create a new, community-shaped place that blends heritage, innovation and everyday life with the character of the area around it. It is being brought forward by a landowner with long-standing roots in the local area, and we are at the very start of shaping what it could become.

Weston is founded on three pillars that reflect the site’s context, the opportunities it presents and the legacy it has the potential to create. Together, they provide the foundation for the vision we are developing and the decisions that will shape its future.

Pillar 1.

Rooted in Shropshire

Weston begins with Shropshire. Its landscape, communities, heritage and economy provide the foundation for everything that follows. Situated within the M54 Growth Corridor and shaped by the surrounding countryside, Weston responds directly to the opportunities and challenges facing the county today.

As a family-owned estate with over 1,000 years of history in the area, Bradford Estates believes future growth should be grounded in place, drawing inspiration from the local landscape, settlement patterns and character that make this part of Shropshire distinctive. Weston is being designed around the existing landscape, enhancing its natural features and placing development within them.

Pillar 2.

Grown by its Community

From the outset, local residents, businesses, organisations and stakeholders will help shape the vision for Weston through consultation, workshops and ongoing engagement.

Weston will be a self-sustaining village with a strong sense of identity and belonging: homes, jobs, community facilities, schools, healthcare, public spaces and everyday services all planned together on site as one integrated village that works for people at every stage of life.

Before detailed proposals are developed, local communities, businesses, organisations and stakeholders are helping to shape the vision for Weston. We want to understand local priorities, aspirations and opportunities first, so that they guide the plans that follow.

Engagement is taking place through:

  • Stakeholder engagement with councillors, parish councils and local organisations

  • Four themed workshops: Environment, Prosperity, Place and Community

  • A community-led Design Panel of local representatives

  • Two rounds of public consultation

  • Together, these activities set the principles that guide future proposals, so that local voices play a meaningful role in shaping Weston. Each workshop focuses on one theme and brings together the organisations closest to it. If you have a particular interest in one of the themes, please get in touch and we will do our best to include you.

Pillar 3.

Built for
the Future

The county’s future prosperity depends on its ability to retain talent, support local businesses and create opportunities for future generations. Weston has the potential to bring together high-quality jobs, skills, training and investment in a way that helps people build lasting careers here, strengthening the local economy for the long term. Weston will also provide the modern, flexible employment space and training facilities that tomorrow’s employers need.

At the same time, future growth should leave a positive legacy. Through landscape-led design, environmental enhancement, active travel connections and long-term stewardship, Weston will create benefits that extend far beyond the homes and infrastructure it delivers.
